It depends on the tree. The City of Jacksonville regulates the removal of protected and heritage trees. Under Florida Sec. 163.045, a property owner seeking to remove a tree that poses a documented risk may need to provide documentation from an ISA-certified arborist -- this is commonly called the "homeowner tree removal" provision. The intake form asks whether your tree is on or near a protected site; your matched provider will advise on whether a COJ permit is required for your specific situation.

Most residential trimming runs $75-$175 for a single small tree. Large live oaks with dense canopies typically run $200-$450. Factors that affect price include tree height, canopy spread, proximity to structures, and debris volume. A flat quote is given before work starts.

Small trees under 30 feet typically run $300-$600. Medium trees (30-60 ft) run $600-$1,200. Large live oaks or trees requiring rigging near structures can reach $1,500-$2,000 or more. Stump grinding is priced separately at $75-$350 per stump.

We respond to all requests the same business day. Routine trimming and removal jobs are typically scheduled within the week. Storm and emergency limb removal requests are prioritized as soon as road conditions allow providers to work safely.

Yes. After a hurricane, tropical storm, or severe thunderstorm, providers respond to calls as soon as roads are passable. Safety hazards -- limbs on roofs, widow-maker limbs lodged in the canopy, blocked driveways -- are prioritized. Submit a request as soon as it is safe to do so and include a brief description of the hazard.
